Kishtwar: A brief encounter unfolded between terrorists and security forces in the dense forests of Chatroo, Kishtwar district, on Sunday evening. According to security officials, the gunfight erupted when forces initiated a search operation following credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the region.

The incident occurred in the remote, heavily forested area of Chatroo, making the operation more challenging due to the rugged terrain. As the security forces closed in, they were met with gunfire, sparking a brief but intense exchange of bullets.

Search Operation Launched

Security officials stated that the operation was launched based on inputs from intelligence agencies, which indicated that a group of terrorists had taken shelter in the Chatroo forests. The forested region, with its difficult-to-navigate terrain, often serves as a hideout for militants.

Upon reaching the suspected location, security personnel came under fire from the terrorists, leading to the brief gunfight. Additional forces have been rushed to the site to assist in the ongoing operation.

Simultaneous Operations in Reasi District

Meanwhile, in a related development, a large-scale search operation is ongoing in the Chassana area of Reasi district, where security forces have been engaged in a gunfight with terrorists since Friday evening. The joint operation in Reasi involves army personnel and local police, who have tightened security and are closely monitoring the situation.

This surge in encounters and security operations highlights the increased vigilance by the forces to counter the growing presence of terrorists in remote and forested areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

As security forces continue their mission, the situation remains tense, with authorities urging local residents to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity. Further updates on both operations are expected as the situation develops.
