Over 10 lakh people affected due to flood in Bihar

Flood water in Ganga is overtopping National Highway 80 between Bariyarpur and Munger, disrupting vehicular traffic on the route.

Patna: In Bihar, the flood situation continues to be unabated in twelve districts due to the rise of the water level of the Ganga and other rivers. Patna, Begusarai, Saran, and Munger are worst affected due to the unprecedented rise of the water level of the Ganga and its tributaries. Over 10 lakh people are affected in these areas due to flooding. In Munger, flood water is touching the rail bridge of the railway near Ratanpur.

The Eastern Railway has stopped rail operations on the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur  rail section under the Malda division as the girders of the rail bridge are inundated with flood water. Five trains on this route have been cancelled today, and over ten trains have been diverted.

Flood water in Ganga is overtopping National Highway 80 between Bariyarpur and Munger, disrupting vehicular traffic on the route. Several low-lying areas in Patna, Begusarai, and Vaishali are submerged due to the flood. In Begusarai district, eight blocks of Balia, Matihani, and Teghra are worst affected. In the flood-ravaged area, people are commuting on boats as flood waters enter their homes. A large number of people have been displaced due to flooding in these districts.
