Severe Weather Alert: Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand Brace for Rain, Snow, and Hail

Chandigarh: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for several northern states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Over the next two days, these regions are expected to experience a range of intense weather phenomena, including rain, snowfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and even hailstorms.

According to the IMD’s forecast, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from April 26 to April 28. Additionally, there is a specific warning for possible hailstorms over Jammu and Kashmir on April 26 and 27, and over Himachal Pradesh on April 27 and 28.

In Uttarakhand, while the intensity of weather events may not be as severe, isolated rainfall is expected during the same period. Residents and authorities in these regions are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take necessary precautions.

Of particular concern is the possibility of heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir on April 27 and April 28. This heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding, landslides, and other weather-related hazards. The IMD urges residents, especially those living in low-lying or vulnerable areas, to be vigilant and prepared for potential disruptions.

Authorities are also monitoring the situation closely and have issued advisories to ensure the safety of the public. Travelers, tourists, and outdoor enthusiasts are advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into risky areas during this period of heightened weather activity.

The IMD’s predictions serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns, especially during transitional seasons. It is essential for residents and authorities alike to remain vigilant, stay informed, and take appropriate measures to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.
