Jammu: The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by a terrorist along the International Border in Jammu’s R S Pura late Saturday night, recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition.

On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, BSF troops detected suspicious movement as an intruder was spotted approaching the BSF fence in the R S Pura border area. The alert troops quickly responded, preventing the infiltration attempt.

A comprehensive search of the area was conducted early Sunday morning, resulting in the recovery of an AK assault rifle, two magazines, 17 rounds, two pistols, four magazines, and 20 rounds of ammunition, a BSF spokesperson reported.

According to official sources, the BSF troops fired a few rounds from a light machine gun after observing the movement of an armed terrorist attempting to cross into Indian territory from across the border late Saturday night.

The intruder, however, managed to escape, abandoning the arms and ammunition. During the search operation, a Pakistan-made bag, a cigarette packet, and other items were also recovered from the scene, the official added.
