Patnitop on High Alert: Heavy gunfire erupts as security forces engage terrorists in a dense forest near the popular tourist spot Patnitop

By Jammu Observer

Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir:
A fierce gunbattle erupted between security forces and a group of terrorists in the dense forest area near the popular tourist destination of Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The operation, launched based on specific intelligence inputs, has led to a high alert in the region.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have jointly cordoned off the area and are engaged in a sustained encounter with the militants. The exact number of terrorists involved is yet to be ascertained, but security officials believe it to be a small group.

“We have established contact with the terrorists and the operation is in progress,” a senior security official said. “The area has been completely sealed off to ensure the safety of civilians.”

To contain the situation and prevent any further escalation, additional security forces have been deployed to the area. The entire region is on high alert, especially in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

While there have been no reports of casualties on either side so far, the exchange of fire has been intense. The operation is likely to continue for some time, and the security forces are determined to neutralize the threat posed by the terrorists.

This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
