Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, acknowledged the significant responsibility entrusted to him after being sworn in on Wednesday. He emphasized the challenge of addressing a decade-long void within a five-year term but expressed his commitment to making substantial progress. Choudhary, who emerged victorious against BJP’s J&K chief Ravinder Raina from the Nowshera constituency, spoke to reporters following the swearing-in ceremony.
“I’ve been given the role of Deputy Chief Minister, and it carries a great responsibility. I am determined to fulfill my duties to the best of my abilities,” Choudhary stated. He added, “It is undeniably challenging to fill the ten-year gap in just five years. However, I have full faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and I am optimistic about serving the people of the Jammu region despite the obstacles ahead.”
Meanwhile, Sakina Itoo, a minister from the National Conference (NC), reiterated her commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The trust that the people have placed in us is immense, and we are committed to serving them wholeheartedly,” she remarked. When asked about the Cabinet’s immediate priorities, Itoo responded, “The first step will be decided during the upcoming Cabinet meeting, and the agenda will become clear then.”
