CEO Pole expresses confidence in peaceful, good voter turnout in elections amid ceasefire

Srinagar, May 5: PK Pole, the Chief Election Officer of J&K UT, expressed optimism hope that peaceful conduct LokSabha elections in border areas will happen, citing the ongoing ceasefire.

Speaking at a sveep program in Bandipora district, Pole stated, “We are hopeful this year the elections in border areas will be conducted peacefully due to the prevailing ceasefire from five years now.”

Addressing potential threats, he affirmed, “If there is any attempt from across the border to interfere with the elections, the election commission has already a plan B in place and elections will still be conducted.” He noted the preparedness to counter any disruptions to ensure the electoral process remains unaffected.

For the Gurez constituency, Pole mentioned contingency plans involving the Indian Airforce to transport polling parties and equipment should weather conditions close Razdan Top. He highlighted the satisfactory voter turnout in Gurez and Bandipora constituencies in previous polls and expressed hope for more participation of people in elections from Bandipora.

He expressed confidence that voter turnout this time will break all the previous records. (KNS)
