Srinagar, May 1: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Awantipora alongwith civil authorities destroyed Poppy cultivation spread over vast area of land.
A Spokesperson said that Police teams of Police Station Awantipora headed by SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS alongwith Tehsildar Awantipora Shri Shakeel Ahmad and Naib Tehsildar Shri Mohammad Irfan launched a special drive against Poppy cultivation and destroyed illegally cultivated Poppy Straw spread over large area of land at Padgampora and Sail.
Accordingly, 07 cases under relevant sections of NDPS Act have registered against the accused persons at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
